The annual St Nicholas Festival returns to Whitley Bay to signal the start of Christmas in the town.
This popular event begins on Friday 5th December with the traditional children’s lamplit procession at 4.15 pm from Marine Park First School to St Paul’s Church. Featuring four local first schools, the procession will take a new route along Park View, passing the numerous fine independent shops en route – many with their special Christmas window displays to enjoy.
The town centre market will be trading from lunchtime on Friday until late and then again on Saturday between 10 am and 4.30 pm, with a mix of established traders and new businesses offering a great range of gifts and foodstuffs.
There’ll be street entertainment and fairground rides, and the St Paul’s Church fayre on Saturday 5th (from 10 am to 2 pm) will feature the return of the reindeers which proved such a hit last year.
On Sunday 7th December, the focus switches to Whitley Bay Metro Station, the new home for the Whitley Bay Chamber’s fayre which takes place between 11 am and 3 pm.
