LOCAL INTEREST: Take part in a Jigathon!

August 1, 2014

Open a newspaper today and it seems everyone is taking part in full or half marathons, fun runs and so on. However, if you are not up to this strenuous exercise, why not try a JIGATHON? You don’t even have to “jig”!

At St Columba’s United Reformed Church in Northumberland Square, North Shields, we have had the idea of holding a Jigathon from 10am on Saturday 13th September as a novel way of raising funds.

So, what does this involve? During the day many jigsaws will be available to complete – for all ages, including simple ones for toddlers and young children, as well as puzzles of 250, 500 and 700 pieces of different subjects, some fun, some serious. There will also be a jigsaw of 1,000 pieces which will be available to add to during the weeks prior to Jigathon Day.

We will be asking those taking part to contribute to the fund raising effort by being sponsored for every 30 minutes of time they spend helping to complete as many jigsaws as possible.

Please come along and join in. The entrance fee is only £1 and refreshments of all kinds will be served throughout the day.

Saturday 13th September is also Heritage Open Day and our church will be open for visitors to see our lovely stained glass windows and our Thompson “Mousey” furniture.

If you would like a sponsorship form or more information, please contact the church on 0191 296 5475 or by email at stcolumbasurc@gmail.com.
