In 2004, Northumberland Scouts launched a new project to reach out to disadvantaged young people in North Tyneside, Newcastle and Northumberland, without requiring them to join Scouting or wear a uniform.
Now celebrating 10 years of successful delivery LookwideUK has supported over 1500 young people, with 762 of them achieving qualifications that will help them take steps toward a more positive future.
Young participants benefit from programmes that promote the values of Scouting: integrity, respect, care and co-operation and use the Scout Method of young people working in partnership with adults. LookwideUK recognises that given the opportunity all young people can be challenged by adventure, motivated by positive role models and stimulated by achievement – and this is even more important for those that are disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated.
In our efforts to engage and support more disadvantaged young people we have launched our ‘Starfish Club’ which enables local companies and individuals to make a donation and hear more about the difference we make for young people.
I hope you will agree our efforts are worthy of your support. To find out more visit www.lookwide.org.uk, telephone our office on 0191 251 4064 or email charltondon@hotmail.com.
