Whitley Women’s Choir is gearing up for a busy year after being named as a fundraiser for North East Children’s Cancer Research (NECCR).
Formed in 1979, NECCR has helped to establish the North East as one of the world leaders in the research of childhood cancer. NECCR has raised over £30 million and Whitley Women are raising funds throughout 2015 to help them continue this work. The choir have arranged a series of events in the coming months including an afternoon sing in Ridley Park, Blyth and a Singing Walk in July 2015. Both promise to be inspiring and uplifting events.
In the six years since they were formed, Whitley Women have raised almost £15,000 for various charities. They have also become involved with Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and are actively involved in The Bay Food Bank which aims to provide emergency food to those in crisis in Tyneside. Whitley Women have also recently trained 65 Dementia Friends, an inspiring scheme where volunteers learn about the things we can do to help people struggling with dementia.
