A poll of my own household gave a decisive overall majority to June as our favourite month, mainly chosen because it seems to bring fine weather, and in my case my birthday. It also includes two other family birthdays, which makes it a good month for celebrating too.
However, my husband, Mark, points out that after the 21st of June the days start to get shorter and it’s ‘all downhill until Christmas’. So be it.
Nevertheless, and whatever the weather, you should find something to keep you entertained within these pages – whether it’s saving the articles and puzzles for a rainy day or venturing out to take part in some of the community events we feature here.
I’ve been delighted to hear recently from a number of community groups about the great response they’ve had from local people who have come to the events or clubs they’ve promoted. Similarly, I’ve received thanks from readers of the magazine for promoting local events they can attend. All of which makes me pleased that we decided from the day we started our business that a community magazine should support not only our local advertisers, but also all of the local not-for-profit groups and clubs that can find it difficult to promote themselves. I believe it helps to make us properly part of the local community.
As ever, we welcome feedback on the magazines, so if you have any comments then do please get in touch – call us on 0191 253 7608 or send an email to email@example.com.
