EDITOR’S LETTER: December 2012

December 1, 2012

Well, it’s that time of year again – Christmas will soon be upon us and the excitement in my house is almost palpable as the countdown to the big day begins!

Naturally, there are lots of festive events taking place this month, starting this weekend with the St Nicholas Festival in Whitley Bay on Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December. In Tynemouth, there’s a repeat of 2011’s inaugural Village Christmas Fayre – see here for more information. And, after last year’s successful event, there will be another Christmas Fayre in the Spanish City Dome in Whitley Bay on Sunday 2nd December.

Christmas music will be provided by In Accord Mixed Choir, the Backworth Male Voice Choir and The Priory Singers – for details of these events and others, including a concert at the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas in Newcastle in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, see here.

Moving on to Saturday 22nd December, what better way to really get into the festive spirit than the ‘Tyne Idols Christmas Cracker’, a night of quality music from The Billy Mitchell Christmas Band (which includes Lindisfarne legend Ray Laidlaw) – at the Avalon Bar (formerly the Trojan Rooms) in Whitley Bay. We are promised terrific tunes, lots of good cheer and a charity auction, so this is an event not to be missed! Doors open at 7.30pm with an 8pm start and tickets are available here.

We always like to hear from our readers, so if you have any comments then do please get in touch – call us on 0191 253 7608 or send an email to info@roundaboutpublications.co.uk.

Merry Christmas!
