Your magazine should be with you just before the end of March which gives me the opportunity to remind you that the clocks go forward by an hour on Sunday 31st!
That means that April will bring lighter nights and hopefully some pleasant spring weather – maybe even some sunshine. It also marks the beginning of a long-awaited project in my home.
We’ve been planning an extension to our house to give us a big kitchen diner / family room, a downstairs bathroom and a new utility room. We’re also going to create a separate living room by replacing the sliding doors to the dining room with a new wall. And, at the same time as all this is going on, we intend to replace the entire central heating system – the rationale being that we might as well do it while the house is in a state of chaos anyway.
It’s obviously a big project, expected to take about three months, and we’ve approached it with some trepidation, particularly when it’s come to choosing major items such as the kitchen cupboards, appliances and so on (I’m very much looking forward to finally having a dishwasher!).
Thankfully we’ve been helped through the entire process by the various tradesmen and companies who will be doing the work for us – one big advantage of publishing our magazines is that we have had plenty of excellent local businesses to call on, and we’ve been impressed by the quality of service offered even by the smallest of firms. I’m sure you’ll find these pages useful if you’re planning your own project, large or small.
As ever, we welcome feedback on the magazines, so if you have any comments then do please get in touch – call us on 0191 253 7608 or send an email to info@roundaboutpublications.co.uk.
