There are a number of interesting events taking place this month which I thought worth mentioning here, particularly as some are for very good causes.
Last year’s inaugural festival was a great success, but this year’s will be even bigger and better and we’re very much looking forward to it – find out more in the article here.
The Broadway Ladies Group are also having their annual coffee morning in support of local charities, and this takes place on Saturday 18th May from 10am until 12 noon at Broadway Methodist Church Hall. This year the ladies are raising funds for “Daft as a Brush” – a charity which helps cancer patients in the North East by providing free transport to and from their hospital appointments – and “The Grafters Club”, which offers ongoing support to children who have suffered burns injuries and their families. Last year the coffee morning raised over £1,400 for Percy Hedley Schools.
Another Methodist Church, Monkseaton Methodist Church, celebrate their centenary this year with a Flower Festival on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May – see here for more information.
Finally, North Shields Rotary Club are presenting a concert in aid of Help for Heroes on Sunday 19th May at 7.30pm. Information about the event and other events this month is here.
