I have to offer an apology this month to any readers who were looking forward to Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society’s performances of ‘The Melody Lingers On’ at King’s School in Tynemouth, which were planned for Friday 29th and Saturday 30th July and were advertised in last month’s magazine. Unfortunately, due to entirely unforeseen circumstances the Society was forced to cancel the shows at a late stage, by which time our July issues had already been printed. However, I’m glad to report that work is already in progress on a production of the musical ‘Annie’, which will be performed by the Society at the Playhouse in Whitley Bay from 14th to 18th February 2012. We’ll be printing more details nearer the time.
I’m pleased to welcome a new local writer this month, Helen Bowman, who gives us her amusing take on family life, having become a new mum at the end of last year. Helen’s article is on page 24, and we look forward to seeing more from her in the future.
In the meantime, let’s hope for some decent summer weather this year, particularly during the six week school holidays for those of you who, like me, have children to keep entertained. I’m holding out for lots of hot sunny days so we can head down to one of our local beaches for picnics, though I must point out that there is virtually no chance of me dipping so much as a toe in the sea unless it warms by about 10°C. Now, where did I put that sun cream?
Don’t forget, if you have any comments about the magazine, then do please get in touch—call us on 0191 253 7608 or send an email to info@roundaboutpublications.co.uk.
