The popular Coast Video Club has been running for 12 years and meets every Thursday evening from 7pm until 9.30pm in Thompson Hall on Wallington Avenue, Marden Estate, North Shields.
Our varied programme ranges from guest speakers, video competitions and seeing and reviewing films made by other clubs through exchange of films. Alternate Thursdays are workshop evenings when members exchange tips on computer and Avio machine editing.
Every year we enter a National competition and this year were lucky enough to get through to the grand final held in January at Altrincham Video Society, near Manchester. In the event our film, ’Foolproof’, which won the Northern heat, was runner up to an entry from Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers. We were also presented a trophy for winning the Northern heat, and a good time was had by all!
The Coast Video Club was also very proud to receive an award from “Age Takes Centre Stage” in partnership with North Tyneside Council, Age UK and other bodies. The award is presented to voluntary members of the public who encourage over 50’s to be more active. Our contribution as a group was in helping other charities by making living records and tutorial videos.
Our club is a member of the IAC – the Film & Video Institute and in the Northern Region (NERIAC). We are a friendly group and always welcome new members. Come along as a guest for a few evenings and see what we do and if it is for you, you will be welcome to join. For more information see our website www.coast-videoclub.weebly.com.
