The choir have also participated in the soon to be released film “A Song for Marion”, as well as the recording of a video for worldwide release called “Newcastle Cities of the World”.
Locally, BMVC entertained in the glazed atrium at the Azure Garden Centre in Cramlington, supported a “Last Night of the Proms” charitable event in Blyth as well as a further charitable performance in October to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Hartley pit disaster, at St Alban’s Church in Earsdon. This was followed by a prestigious tutorial, rehearsal and concert event supported by the internationally recognised musical director, Dr Alwyn Humphreys MBE.
Dr Humphrey’s vast musical experience includes conducting 623 concerts, recording 28 albums, giving countless TV appearances, travelling extensively worldwide and being for 25 years the Musical Director of the Morriston Orpheus Choir.
His musical arrangements for male choir, now numbering over 200, are much in demand from choirs all over the world. Following his trip to Whitley Bay to impart his expertise to the choir, he immediately travelled to New Zealand for further harmonic coaching.
This extremely busy year will conclude with the ever popular annual Christmas Concert on Saturday December 15th at St Hilda’s church in North Shields.
