This mixed choir was formed in May 2010 by a number of enthusiastic singers who wanted to share their love of singing with others.
The group, based in North Shields and now consisting of nearly 30 members, aim to serve the community by ‘Singing for Pleasure’ and raising funds for varies organisations and charities. The choir repertoire can be expressed as ‘All the S’s’ – Seasonal, Secular, Sacred, Songs from the Shows, and So on.
The choir has performed concerts in the local area since September 2010 including venues at Tynemouth, Monkseaton, Forest Hall, Jesmond and Ponteland plus five in North Shields. Chairman Edwin Shield says that, after the initial costs of setting up, they were delighted to give their first charity concert ‘Why We Sing’ on Saturday, June 11th 2011 when a cheque for £500 was presented to ‘Breathe Easy’ (Wallsend), part of the British Lung Foundation.
