Whitley Bay is looking forward to the annual celebration of the Feast of St Nicholas on Friday 2nd December, with the traditional children’s lamplit procession to St Paul’s Church for the calling of the Saint and the switch on of the St Paul’s tree lights. This year the procession will leave from Marine Park School at about 4pm and travel to the town centre via Park Avenue.
Once again there will be a farmer’s market in the town centre on the Friday and Saturday, with traders from Northumberland and the local area selling a wide variety of crafts, gifts, food and beverages from their stalls.
In a change from previous years the French traders won’t be joining us so instead the event will be supported by local start up businesses from the Business Factory who will be showcasing their wares.
There will be a full programme of entertainment throughout Saturday around the marquee in the town centre, including fairground rides for children, so all is set fair for a memorable start to the Christmas season, with the Christmas Fayre at the Dome to provide a grand finale to the weekend.
