The heaps of bright orange pumpkins and the availability of fireworks in the shops at this time of year serves not only to remind me that Halloween and Guy Fawkes night are upon us (and don’t forget that the clocks go back an hour on Sunday 30th October), but also that we are inexorably heading towards Christmas – though for some retailers it seems that the festive season was under way just after the school uniforms disappeared from display at the beginning of September. I must confess to having already started my Christmas shopping – I like to be organised but it also helps to spread the cost over a few months and not impact the household cashflow too much!
I always try and buy locally whenever I can, particularly as we are fortunate to have a good selection of independent shops close at hand, giving a wide variety of options to choose from when buying gifts. As examples, Photostuff (see here) in Monkseaton are great for personalised gifts, as are Beauty and the Pooch (see here) if you want a special gift for a dog owner or even for your own pampered pooch!
New to Monkseaton is Thai Orchid Spa and Massage (see here), and their Christmas gift vouchers could be the perfect present idea, or for the keen gardener Green Grass (see our Business Directory) are offering Lawn Treatment gift vouchers as a great alternative idea .
Shutterspeed in Whitley Bay (see here) offer choices for the photographically minded, and if you want some good festive food before the big day arrives, or are organising a Christmas party, why not book into the Gibraltar Rock in Tynemouth (see our Business Directory)?
