About Advertising

If you own a business and want to get more customers from the Monkseaton, Tynemouth, and Whitley Bay areas, Roundabout Monkseaton, Roundabout Tynemouth, and Roundabout Whitley Bay community magazines are the place to be.

Your main focus in running your business has to be delivering paying work, but you also have to generate more business. For most small businesses this will be via two main routes: word of mouth or advertising. Nothing beats word of mouth but you also need advertising to introduce new customers and keep those all important references coming in.

And that’s where we can help! We specialise in dealing with small businesses that don’t have marketing departments and our focus is on determining the best possible advertising solution for you. That’s because if you run an advert that works you’ll not only advertise again but you’ll also tell other people that it worked. We’d much rather have you as a customer for life than just go for a short term win.

That’s why over 80% of our advertisers stay in our magazines every month, and why many have been advertising with us since we started in 2005. And with affordable prices starting from just £20 per insertion, they stay in because it is a reliable and cost-effective way to get business in Monkseaton, Tynemouth, or Whitley Bay. In other words – it works!

Where are the magazines delivered to?

Both magazines are published and distributed monthly, usually in the last few days before the beginning of the month:

  • Roundabout Monkseaton is delivered to 5,500 homes and businesses in the Monkseaton area. We cover Monkseaton Village, West Monkseaton, Valley Gardens, Red House Farm and Beaumont Park.
  • Roundabout Tynemouth is delivered to 5,500 homes and businesses in the Tynemouth area. We cover Tynemouth village, including the area enclosed by Tynemouth Golf Club to the west, Grand Parade to the east, the Tyne to the south and Beach Road to the north, as well as the Marden estate enclosed by Preston North Road to the west, The Broadway to the east, Beach Road to the south and Marden Quarry to the north.
  • Roundabout Whitley Bay is delivered to 5,500 homes and businesses in the Whitley Bay area. We cover the area enclosed by St Mary’s Lighthouse to the North, Beaumont Park to the West (meeting the Monkseaton distribution area), the coast to the East, and the Metro line to the South. This area includes Whitley Bay town centre, Whitley Lodge, and Marine Avenue.

This gives a total distribution of 16,500 magazines every month, delivered door to door. Please note that although we do drop off a few spare copies at pick-up points (such as shops and libraries) for those who live outside the distribution area, we don’t rely on drop-off as a distribution method – simply because it is not as effective as door to door delivery.

How much does advertising cost?

Our rates vary based on what size advert you need, how long you want to stay in for, and whether or not you need a premium page. You can see all of our prices here, but we recommend that you either contact us with some details about your business or call us so that we can discuss your advertising. We promise there will be no ‘hard sell’ – we just want to understand a little more about your business aims before we recommend an advertising option for you. You can call us on 07580 139 058 or send an email request here.

When are the deadlines and distribution dates?

The copy deadlines and distribution dates are shown in the table below. The copy deadline is a final deadline for print ready artwork, so we ask that new customers who need adverts designed contact us a few days before the deadline. This is because it takes some time to create your advert and to get your approval of it.

Do I have to design my own advert?

If you don’t have a graphic designer who can do it for you, then we are happy to produce a simple advert for you or recreate your existing advert for a fixed price of just £10. We only need you to provide words and your logo if you have one and we’ll do the rest.

Alternatively, and for something really special, we also offer professional artwork by an experienced local graphic designer starting from just £25 – please contact us for more information on this service.

What if I want to design my own advert?

That is, of course, absolutely fine! We accept adverts in high definition graphics formats such as JPEG at 300 DPI (dots per inch), print quality PDF, or MS Publisher format.  We will also accept MS Word format, but if the advert needs a lot of amending we may charge a make up fee.

If you are supplying the advert, you can email it to us at info@roundaboutpublications.co.uk.

Can I include some editorial about my business?

An editorial feature is a great way to supplement your advertising and gives you a depth of coverage that is normally only available at huge expense in other publications. We can build a combined package of advertising and editorial customised specifically for you – call us on 07580 139 058 to discuss, or send an email request here.

I’d like some leaflets – can you help?

Not only can we organise the design of leaflets for you, we can also arrange for them to be printed – and they can be delivered for you when the magazines are distributed. Again, please contact us to discuss – call us on 07580 139 058 or send an email request here.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, BACS / Faster Payments, or with debit and credit cards (a fee is charged for credit card payments). Longer term advertisers can pay by standing order. Full payment must be received by the copy deadline date. For multi-insertion packages full payment must be received by the copy deadline date of the first advert.

What Our Advertisers Say

The magazine has only been out for two weeks and I have already had work worth over three times the cost of my advertising and have seven quotes to get back yet. Your magazine is great for my business.

Joe Embleton, Up A Height … And Down To Earth, www.upaheight.com

Our client, Wade Financial, saw a rise in direct traffic to their website of over 400% after the advertising campaign we ran in the Roundabout magazines, and we believe the campaign was a major contributor to this rise. Coupled with the increase in business Wade Financial also saw, this is an excellent result, and we will be placing more advertising for them and other clients in the future.

Iain Kennair, Director, Collaborative Portfolio, www.copo.co.uk

Advertising in Roundabout has been very successful and I now have plenty of new pupils. Thank you for your help in getting my business started, I really do think that the magazines are the best way to advertise for business in this area.

Nicole Cording, Maths Tutor

Thanks for the Jazz Festival advert – within 48 hours we had five bookings from it. Good little power-house your magazines, they are really popular!!

Marilyn Walton, Whitley Bay Jazz Festival

Thank you, thank you, thank you for publishing my article about the Ceilidh I am organising to raise funds for the local MS Society – the number of people who mentioned the story this week is a tribute to your popularity. There is no doubt that your magazines are well read and are therefore a very influential local information and interest resource. I believe they are crucial to my cause.

Francis McSherry, MS Society Fundraiser
